The Mountain Method Family Coaching
A Five-Phase Roadmap for Raising a More Connected Family
The Mountain Method
A Practical Roadmap for Raising a More Connected Family
Every family climbs mountains.
Some seasons are filled with joy.
Others feel overwhelming.
Communication breaks down.
Children struggle.
Parents become exhausted.
Schedules become relentless.
Technology begins competing for everyone’s attention.
The home that once felt peaceful can begin to feel rushed, reactive, and disconnected.
Most families don’t need more parenting advice.
They need a roadmap.
The Mountain Method is a five-phase educational framework created by Dr. Stacy Jagger to help parents lead their families with greater confidence, clarity, and connection.
Drawing from more than three decades of working with children and families—including 15 years in private practice—Dr. Jagger created The Mountain Method to give families practical tools they can use every day to strengthen relationships and build healthier rhythms at home.
Originally designed for families raising children ages 3–12, the framework can also be thoughtfully adapted for adolescents and teens while respecting their growing independence and developmental needs.
Whether you live in Tennessee or across the country, families can experience The Mountain Method through online courses, practical resources, and optional family coaching from the comfort and privacy of home.
Because every family deserves a roadmap – not just more advice.
What Is The Mountain Method?
The Mountain Method is more than a parenting course.
It is a relationship-centered educational framework designed to help families intentionally strengthen the way they live together.
Rather than overwhelming parents with more information, The Mountain Method provides a clear, practical path for building healthier communication, stronger relationships, and more intentional family rhythms.
Families learn practical tools for:
- Building stronger parent-child relationships
- Improving communication
- Creating healthy boundaries
- Understanding nervous system regulation
- Reducing digital overload
- Encouraging creativity, movement, and connection
- Responding thoughtfully to challenging behaviors
- Establishing healthier daily rhythms
- Building resilience as a family
The goal isn’t simply to learn new ideas.
The goal is to put them into practice.
The Five-Phase Journey
Phase One: Base Camp
Every journey begins by understanding where you are.
Base Camp helps families pause, identify their strengths, recognize areas of stress or disconnection, and clarify where they want to go together.
Phase Two: Gear
Every successful climb requires preparation.
In this phase, families build practical tools for communication, healthy boundaries, emotional awareness, connection, and everyday family life.
These become the equipment you’ll carry throughout the journey.
Phase Three: Avalanches
Every family encounters obstacles.
This phase helps families recognize the patterns that create stress, conflict, and disconnection.
Sometimes that includes unhealthy technology habits.
Sometimes it’s overscheduling.
Sometimes it’s reactive communication, unrealistic expectations, or simply living at a pace that leaves little room for connection.
Families learn practical strategies for interrupting those patterns and replacing them with healthier ones.
Phase Four: Gaining Ground
Meaningful change rarely happens all at once.
It happens through consistent, intentional practice.
As families begin applying what they’ve learned, healthier habits become part of everyday life.
Families begin practicing healthier communication, stronger connection, and more intentional daily rhythms.
Small, consistent choices create meaningful progress over time.
Phase Five: The Summit
The summit isn’t about becoming a perfect family.
It’s about becoming a more intentional one.
This final phase celebrates progress, clarifies the values your family wants to carry forward, and helps you continue building on what you’ve learned long after the course is complete.
Healthy families are built one intentional day at a time.
Family Coaching
Some families enjoy completing The Mountain Method independently.
Others appreciate having a guide along the way.
The Mountain Method Family Coaching is an educational, goal-oriented service designed to help families apply what they are learning in everyday life.
Coaching focuses on education, encouragement, accountability, practical implementation, and helping families move from knowing to doing.
Think of coaching as having an experienced guide while climbing the mountain.
You still take each step.
You simply don’t have to figure out the trail alone.
Who Is This For?
The Mountain Method may be a great fit for:
- Parents seeking practical guidance
- Families raising children ages 3–12
- Families with adolescents or teens
- Homeschool families
- Schools and educators
- Churches and community organizations
- Grandparents and caregivers
- Families who live outside Middle Tennessee
- Families looking for practical educational tools to strengthen relationships
- Families already working with a licensed therapist who would like additional educational support between therapy sessions
Coaching and Therapy: What’s the Difference?
The Mountain Method Family Coaching is an educational service.
It is not psychotherapy, counseling, or a substitute for mental health treatment.
Family coaching focuses on education, skill development, implementation, encouragement, and accountability.
Psychotherapy is a clinical service provided by a licensed mental health professional and may include assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health concerns.
Families currently participating in therapy may choose to use The Mountain Method as an educational resource alongside their therapeutic work.
If questions arise about whether coaching or therapy is the better fit, we’re happy to help guide you toward the most appropriate next step.
Our Philosophy
Families rarely change because they receive more information.
They change because they intentionally practice healthier ways of relating to one another.
The Mountain Method provides the roadmap.
Family coaching provides encouragement, accountability, and practical support as families learn to apply that roadmap in everyday life.
Small, intentional choices, practiced consistently over time, can reshape the way a family experiences one another.
Begin Your Journey
You don’t have to wait until your family is in crisis to become more intentional.
Whether you’re looking for practical parenting tools, a shared language for your family, or a step-by-step process for strengthening relationships, The Mountain Method offers a clear path forward.
Every family climbs mountains. You don’t have to climb yours without a roadmap.
